Taxonomy: f. Plasmodidae
Animal: Plasmodium malariae 3 12.jpg
Sites: Blood
Comment:
Plasmodium malariae trophozite in thin film - note a typical banded form in non-enlarged red cell and abundant dark brown pigment (it is the most heavily pigmented of the human malarial parasites). The banded form is actually an artifact because the trophozoite is less resilient and so remains distorted as the film is made and dried quickly.
